Getting Started, Finding a Topic
You've been given as assignment to write a paper on a controversial topic. Your first step, and for some the most difficult, is to actually choose a topic. The library has resources available such as Facts.com's Issues and Controversies and CQ Researcher which allow you to browse topics and find one which catches your interest.
You can also check the brief list below for some broad topic ideas. Once you find an interesting subject, you'll want to narrow it down to a specific topic. For example, using the broad topic of Advertising in America, your specific research topic could be "Should soft drink companies be allowed to advertise in high schools?"
| Abortion and Fetal Rights | Iraq Policy |
