Death Penalty Debates
The Death Penalty has always been a controversial topic. It appeared as a ballot measure in the November 2012 election and will no doubt appear again. In this Library Guide we suggest starting with sources to give you background information and overview on the topic, then looking for books, ebooks and videos, and finally to finding articles (and reports) focusing on the particular aspects of the topic you've chosen.
CQ Researcher--a good starting point
CQ Researcher gathers information from a variety of sources and puts together almost weekly reports, like the example below. These can provide a good overview of a topic as you start your research.
Accessing the research databases
Sierra College Library's research databases and electronic books are available from off-campus. When you click on a database link you will be prompted to log in with your MySierra username as the username and your student ID number (no spaces or dashes) as the password.
Reference Books
Reference Books are also great sources of background information. The Reference Collection at Rocklin is on the 2nd floor.

Online Reference Books
Gale Virtual Reference Library is collection of Reference books you access online. You'll find some of the same titles here as can be found on the shelves in the library and many other titles as well. Searching on "death penalty" will retrieve articles from diverse sources in contemporary social issues, science/technology and ethics, history, law and statutes, etc.
